Summer Softball
by posted 05/18/2012

Hi Softball Fans,

Just want to let you know there is going to be a Summer Softball program,  hosted by Redmond Little League.  Games may be played  at various fields across District 9 (Greater Eastside, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, North Bend)

This should be a really fun summer activity!  Sign-ups will be opening soon on our website, but I need to gauge interest, so if your daughter would like to sign up for summer ball please reply to this email with her name, age, and team she plays on this season.

Thanks!  Jen

Mission Statement:

-          Summer softball should be a fun and recreational program designed to keep girls playing, developing skills, and building in-game learning experience between Spring seasons.  The focus should be on developing pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting skills.  The intention is not to promote a competitive atmosphere rather to have fun, meet and play with new players from other leagues, continue to develop fundamental skills needed for the next year of play and to enjoy playing in warm temperatures.

Details:

Proposed 2012 Summer Softball Season

-          Dates: July 18th – August 26th

-          Contacts: 10 games, practice optional (max 1 practice per week)

-          Team Size: 12-14 players per team

-          3 Divisions: AAA, Coast, Majors

-          Fields: Games played on fields throughout D9 – If you have fields to offer please let me know.

-          Umpires: Youth and parent umpires

-          Registration opens mid-May – soon

-          Team Formation – Teams would be formed by draft with 1 matching buddy request – logistics TBD.  Goal is to have teams with a mixture of girls from different leagues but allow players to be paired with mutually requested buddies.

-          Registration Fee = $70 / $80 after June 18th

-          Uniforms: Printed T-Shirt and Socks for player to keep.

PARENT INFO NIGHT: SBA SELECT BASEBALL

PARENT INFO NIGHT: SELECT BASEBALL

On Tuesday, June 26th, 2012 from 7:00PM-8:00PM, SBA will host “Select Baseball Info Night”.
If your child is in their last year of little league and wants to play next year, we encourage
parents to attend this event. This is open to any parents who wish to attend whether your
child is 12, 13 or 14. SBA owner, Kirk Hansell will lead the discussion about the select baseball
process. SBA instructors with experience coaching select teams in youth baseball will also be
present to answer your questions about select baseball. This is a great opportunity for parents
to gain insight and ask questions.

What leagues and teams are available for my son after little league?
How do tryouts work and when are they?
How much do select teams cost?
When does the season start and end?
What is the difference between Juniors (little league) and Sandy Koufax?

At the conclusion of the meeting we will have a hand out that summarizes the costs of different
select teams in the area with contacts names, numbers and a list of when and where they will
hold tryouts for the upcoming season.
